The Department of ENT (Otorhinolaryngology) provides evaluation and treatment for disorders of the ears, nose, sinuses, throat, voice, swallowing and selected head-and-neck structures. Patients of all ages may require ENT care for recurrent ear infections, hearing difficulty, tinnitus, vertigo, sinus symptoms, nasal blockage, tonsil problems, hoarseness, swallowing difficulty or neck swelling.

When should hearing loss be evaluated?
New, progressive or sudden hearing loss should be assessed. Sudden hearing loss is time-sensitive and needs urgent evaluation.
What causes tinnitus?
Tinnitus has many causes, including hearing loss and ear conditions. Persistent one-sided or pulsatile tinnitus should be evaluated.
What is vertigo?
Vertigo is a sensation of movement or spinning. Causes may arise from the inner ear or other neurological and medical conditions.
What is nasal endoscopy?
A small scope is used to examine the nasal passages and sinus openings in more detail.
When does sinusitis need ENT review?
Persistent or recurrent symptoms, significant nasal obstruction, polyps or poor response to appropriate treatment may warrant ENT assessment.
Is a deviated septum always treated surgically?
No. Surgery is considered when septal deviation causes significant obstruction or related symptoms not adequately managed otherwise.
When are tonsils removed?
Tonsillectomy may be considered for recurrent severe infections, significant enlargement causing airway problems or selected other indications.
What causes hoarseness?
Voice strain, infection, reflux, vocal-cord lesions and other conditions can cause hoarseness. Persistent hoarseness should be examined.
Can ENT doctors treat snoring?
ENT assessment can identify upper-airway contributors. Some patients also need sleep evaluation, weight management or CPAP-based treatment.
What ENT symptoms are emergencies?
Severe breathing difficulty, airway foreign body, uncontrolled bleeding, major facial/neck trauma or sudden hearing loss require urgent assessment.
